Eileen Tupholme
Eileen was born in 1942 and lived at RR# 8 London. She went to Gore Road School,
then to Chelsea Green School, and then to Fairmont School in 1953. Her high-school
years were spent at Medway and Clarke Road. She got to know all the Dorchester kids
because they were all bussed to Medway and Clarke Road.
The bank robbery in 1987 was something. The guy who robbed the bank ditched his car
on Shaw Side road, and then ran down the road to Conner’s place at the corner of Gore
and Shaw. He went into the house there to use the phone and the lady let him because
she didn’t know what had happened. He then ran up to Eileen’s house. Eileen was
listening to this on the radio at work. “Oh my God, he’s at our place!”
She knew her house was wide open and had hunting guns and ammunition there. If he
got settled into the house and had access to the guns, there might have been a
shootout with the police. Eileen quickly called Terry Brooks to go and lock the door.
Well, that guy just sat under a tree in her backyard. There was a big bang. He had shot
himself: that was the end of him.
